COURSES AND WORKSHOPS
‘Darn it.’ a workshop based on Hilary’s signature darn and weave technique. A course that uses simple stitches to produce small pictures using participants own ideas. The course explains the research, development and sampling that runs along side stitching.
A WAY OF WORKING
This is a workshop which investigates ways that can help you to develop a personal way of working a project from initial research through to design and sampling to the beginnings of a piece of work. The research is developed working from retrospective and observed sources.
A SIGNIFICANT CLOTH
Cloth has throughout time significance and meaning in many cultures. By exploring this background the workshop works through the development of ideas from personal memories or events to record them in a cloth that reflects these moments.
SHOCKING PINK IS THE NAVY BLUE OF INDIA
A workshop that uses the visual feasts and delights of India and Indian embroidery. Hilary’s personal collection of India textiles is used as a resource. The session includes the analysis of stitches, patterns, techniques and colour.
Each of the workshops include an opportunity to examine Hilary’s own work and / or items from her personal textile collection. These items are brought according to their relevance to the topic of the workshop or lecture.
